Summary - Hunger

The story's about a boy, named Richard. I'd say the story plays out in the more older days. It does not play out in our time.... now, like I was saying, the story is about a boy named Richard and he lives with his little brother and mother. His father isn't there, but his mother never tells him, nor his brother, why their father isn't around. But he doesn't return from, wherever he is or what his reason is to be gone. But it's never mentioned in the story why the father isn't around. And since the father was the one to get money for his family, they now were out of money for food. Which meant the mother had to get a job to provide her children with food. But, one day she asked her oldest son of hers to go and buy the groceries. Which made him feel big to do this very important and huge ( or it was huge to him ) task. So he got some money, a basket and a list of what he supposed to buy after his motehr had showed him where the corner store stood. But when he did go there to be 'the big boy', he got attacked by a gang of boys that all stole his money, and the basket too actually. He took the only option he had and ran home again. His mother remained her emotion-cold face and made no comment. She just gave her young more money and another basket. But the attack repeated itself, so he again went home upset, so she told him that if he wanted to be in this home he had to get food, or else he wouldn't be welcome again! She once more gave him money, a basket, AND this time a stick to beat up the attackers. He had no other choice as it seemed. The boy attacked back, and beat them all, he even snapped at their parents with all the anger he carried, the power and fury. He won, which made him feel greater then ever... He felt that he owned the street.
